North Ayrshire Junior Meet

This meet saw 34 Westies in action over the weekend.  Excellent swims by all swimmers with a haul of medals and PBs to boot.  Full results will be posted in due course.  Great job by all swimmers, well done to you all.  Thanks to parents for supporting swimmers and to Declan for excellent coaching over the weekend. Thanks also to team Managers Andy, Jennifer and Susan and to all technical officials offering their services over the weekend.  Unfortunately, the Sunday morning session was not accredited due to a lack of Judges.  Many swimmers PB’d in the morning session, however these times will not be counted for DRP.  If there are any parents out there with a burning desire to support WDASC in the role of technical officialplease contact David Valentine.

Urgent support required

As you may or may not be aware, Helensburgh are hoping to have a new gym and pool facility in the next 4 years.  The consultation regarding pool design is ongoing at the moment and is due to completed in the next few weeks.  As it stands the current proposal does not allow for an adequate spectator gallery. Adequate gallery space would enable the pool to facilitate swim meets as the hope would be that 100 spectators could be accommodated.  Why does this affect WDASC? If in the future we as a club were to host meets, Helensburgh pool would be an excellent potential venue. There is a survey link at https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/helensburgh-waterfront  which allows you to input feedback on the design and there is a further public consultation session at the Victoria Halls on Monday 14th May 2018 from 11:00hrs to 19:00hrs.  The details of the facility are on display in the Helensburgh pool cafe if any of your club members live in Helensburgh.

Race Night 19th May Reminder regarding our Race Night in aid of warm weather camp.  Tickets, horses, trainers and owners available to buy now!! There will be fun and games aplenty, don’t miss out on a great night. 19th May at Dumbarton Harp Club 7:30pm till late.
